Make your way into the city, by airport shuttle bus or taxi, and check in at the centrally located Clarion Collection Aurora. Relax in the sauna and outdoor hot tub, with great views of the harbor and famous Arctic cathedral.
After breakfast, enjoy some time off by exploring Tromsø some more. The city is the cultural heart of Northern Norway and no stay is complete without a visit to its landmark the Arctic cathedral or one of the many interesting museums in town. Make your way to the cable car to enjoy the panoramic views of the island and its surroundings. In the afternoon, a once in a lifetime adventure awaits you. Spend a full day in the wild in the Tamok valley, explore the wilderness by snowmobile and with a bit of luck watch the Aurora unfold its magical dance above you. Warm dinner is served by the fireplace and you will spend the night in a cozy timber cabin or Sami tent, close to nature.
Today, try mushing your own dog team in the beautiful winter landscape. After lunch, catch the transfer back to Tromsø and head on to the small fishing community of Sommarøy. After dinner, a local guide will pick you up and you will spend the night at his Aurora camp listening to his stories about life on the island, while waiting for the Northern Lights by the warm fireplace.
Every year from November to January, orca and humpback whales are following the streams of herring to the coast of Sommarøy and Kvaløya. Head out by boat to watch the orca and humpback whales’ active hunt for their prey. At other times of the year, enjoy a cruise through the stunning island landscape and its fascinating marine wildlife. Use the evening for another Aurora chase, this time on your own.
It is time to leave the island of Sommarøy, and head back to the airport just in time for your flight home.
